1988 Defender 110 V8/ LPG

       Thank you Ron -

I have many more pictures of the truck, in fact more flattering pictures where it is light outside!  I also have alot of pictures underneath so you can see the frame/ etc..  I can always take more pictures for you as well if you want to see anything else in particular.

This is a great price for a 110 which has already been legally imported and sorted out with DMV.   Do the cosmetic work while you drive it.    Ladies Love it!     More pictures here:

1974 Range Rover Classic, Defender 110, turbo diesel tdi engines..XX

Well, the container has been unloaded.    The 1974 2-door Range Rover:   it is a great color, looks cool,  is actually fast with its 200tdi and 5-speed manual transmission, and gets 30MPG!    Lovin' it.

Red 110 has more rust in the body than I expected but it still has a very solid frame and would be a great start for someone who wants a Defender 110 which they can drive now, but does not have $25000 to spend.   I would take $14K for this one now.

Engines engines engines.... 300tdi 200tdi automatic or manual transmission,   installation available here ,  convert your Discovery, Range Rover or series truck to diesel!   Save a ton on your fuel costs.

PS EVERYONE :    ITS A GIRL!!

New Arrivals, MONDAY 2/25 : Defender 110, 200tdi Range Rover Classic, diesel engines and parts..

So, on the new container arriving Monday is a 1974 Range Rover Classic 2-door in excellent condition with a 200tdi and 5-speed manual transmission.   Paint is great, it looks great, although the body trim has been updated a bit to look more like a modern RRC -   I have taken a deposit on it , so it is most likely 'SOLD' , but if once here the buyer decides not to follow through,  it will be for sale locally for $14K,   or more likely I will be keeping it.         Also in the container is a 1988 Defender 110 CSW, with nice red paint,  running and driving just dandily.    I have taken a deposit on this truck as well, and will be converting it to a tdi/R380 combo for the new owner.     If he decides not to follow through, it will be up for sale too, I suppose in the $18K range as-is with a healthy V8 and LPG conversion.

Also in the big metal box are Defender 90 and 110 hard top CSW sides with sliding windows,  a complete very nice gray cloth Discovery interior,  200tdi and 300tdi diesel engine kits, most 5-speed manual, but one automatic kit is there as well.

Here are a couple of pictures of the trucks before they were loaded in the container in January.   I'll post new ones as soon as I have them,  check back on Tuesday/ Wednesday  -    And if you have any UK requests let me know.

New Container Arrived -

Got word on Friday that the next container has made its way across the ocean, through the US Customs X-ray machine in NY,  onto a rail car,  then across the country,  and one more time through US Customs here in Portland, and is now finally scheduled to be dropped off here in my shop yard on Monday.

In case you were not aware, this is E-X-C-I-T-I-N-G.

You know when you order something really cool, and maybe expensive online, like maybe a new laptop, or some cool shoes, something for YOU though, that you have wanted for a long time?   You know how great the waiting is, and one day, finally,   you hear the idling of that big brown van outside your house or window, and see it go into reverse and pull into your driveway?     The guy with the brown shorts hops out and makes his way up to your door, which you are already on your way to answering?

Or, Maybe you get home to find that it has already happened in your absence and the box is there on your porch, or someone brought it inside for you??    You know how that is exciting?

Well, picture if the ENTIRE UPS VAN WAS FULL OF STUFF FOR YOU, but the UPS van was twice as big, at FORTY FEET LONG and it had cars in side of it??

Well,   maybe I'm not telling it right,  but it IS pretty exciting.    Here are some pictures of the last drop-off :

1988 Turbo Diesel Toyota Landcruiser for sale BJ74 w/low miles

Well, this Landcruiser is now  - SOLD -       But you will probably see it around at Landcruiser events in the upcoming year!   -   Thank you, Mark

Well,  for now I suppose my blog will be reduced to this:   A convenient way for me to post pictures and descriptions of my new arrival vehicles for sale.

    SO BE IT.

Here is the newest-of-new arrivals;   a 1988 Toyota Landcruiser mid-wheelbase BJ74 with the 13BT direct-injected diesel engine.   I just turned this thing over to 160K KM on the clock, which is 100,000 original miles, which is nothing for one of these trucks.

I'll cut and paste my ad from another site here:

"I just (legally) imported this 1988 BJ74 Land Cruiser here. RHD/ Automatic. BIG PTO winch in the front bumper. I just turned it over 160K KM (Only 100K miles) on the drive home, and it runs/ drives/shifts and stops like a low-mileage truck.

Body/frame/interior/wheels/suspension all original and looking great. Perfectly straight, no rust, no accident damage. Paint is original there is no rust whatsoever, other than surface small 'stains' in the paint around any tiny paint chips or small scratches, which will wipe off with some steel wool, or even a rubbing with a rag and cleaner. There is no rust going down into the metal, or anything that could be considered serious.

13BT direct-injected turbo 3.4L diesel engine starts right up without having to wait for the glowplugs. 4-speed automatic transmission shifts as it should. Interior looks great, a 9 out of 10. You can hop in this and drive anywhere, right now. Power windows, power mirrors, AC all work. Removable FRP fiberglass top looks great, headliner is perfect. Go convertible this summer with this one.

The only problems with the truck are very minor; drivers side power window, when taken all the way to the top, makes ratcheting noise- regulator has a chipped tooth at the very top, does not affect function. Paint is a bit faded here and there, but will still clean up and shine nice. Paint is about a 7 out of 10, the biggest detractor from perfection for this truck.

I returned about 25MPG yesterday on the freeway going almost 80MPH for five hours.

Original cassette deck/ radio work great. Seats look terrific.

I'm looking for $15K or something close, I think it will pull that easily on ebay. If it were a Rover in this condition it would fetch $25K and up!"

For those of you who don't know, this is the spiritual  successor of the iconic FJ40 -  That Toyota 'Jeep' from the 1960s and 1970s with the white roof that came off, that one of the cool kids drove to high school.     This one is (arguably) better because it is modern with creature comforts like power windows, power mirrors,  air conditioning,  door locks that work,  and adjustable seats. This one also averages about 25MPG as opposed to the 12-14MPG of it's Daddy Cruiser.    It has also (arguably) more panache as it is incredibly rare here in the USA - they were never legally imported nor available through the dealer network.  Now that they are 25 years old, our friends at the NHTSA will let them be imported on an exemption voucher.

I'll start putting more posts up here now, and I have a new website going up too  where this will be more organized and 'business like' -  but I love to interject an opinion, comment, joke, and my more personal thoughts on the vehicles offered will be found here at Laughs and Lashings.

OH -  I want $15000 for this Cruiser, a very fair price.    The only one like it sold on ebay in the last 60 days went for $17000 in LA, but it had a 5-speed instead of an auto box, and even lower miles on the dial.

Here are some pictures for your consideration.   If you want to call/ email, please message me at zombiemotors@earthlink.net , 503-505-7113

What a wild, weird, (and wonderful) year it has been!

     Like, TOTES.

As you may have noticed, I have not been around much typing lately.      I also have not been playing my guitar,  going for walks,  lifting weights or painting as I usually do.

This last year sure has been a big one.   I got married.     I moved in with my wife (another person) into a cool old Victorian house downtown.    I have been busy working.    I also recently found out that I am going to be someone's dad next year.

This is sort of crazy...     Good crazy.     At first I was riddled with fear for a few days, and now it just sort of does not seem real.     Eve and I wanted to go to England as a sort of delayed honeymoon (And I Was going to make a business trip out of it, importing some Land Rover Defenders back home) in the Spring, but we have not moved out plans right on up to this month so we can travel before she is large and/or uncomfortable.    In the meantime, she is pretty moody (but PLEASE do not tell her I said so), so we'll see how two weeks in a car together driving around in a cold mist collecting old car parts goes for us.

I need to keep this brief today, but I wanted to make an installment.     I just got back from a walk by the river, and I  forgot how great it is to get outside and make some time for walking and reflecting.     I need to write more!    I need to exercise!      I HAVE stopped drinking (not that I needed to, but I thought I would help provide a Unified Front for the Missus, who sadly can not drink for 6 or 7 more months) and this is a good thing.

I have been more productive than I have ever been.   I have saved a lot of money.   I have finished most every dangling, nagging obligation that has been haunting me for the last 6 years.   I am stepping into the next big chapter of my life, both at home and at 'work'.    I will have a little person screeching in a basket soon.     Will it love me?    Will I be overbearing?   Will it like cars?    Will it find me old and boring? Will it be funny?   WILL IT BE HEALTHY???

So,  I am off.    This is the start of new things though, and I will be back soon to update.    There are pictures, too.      There will be many more.   There are stories and plans, and things are happening a lot like I imagined they would, and I feel grounded and much more calm, like I always imagined I would.      How many people can say that?     That they were getting to have the life they planned on having, and it felt as good as they thought it would??

1959 Jaguar.  Helping finance the England Trip.  Wish I could keep it!

Yes, that is the GREEN CAR, and yes, it is done.

A quick note regarding 'honesty' :

A)   I always try to be honest with the people in my life.    Especially about my feelings, and I have always been aware of trying to provide a safe and reliable receptacle for other people's honest admissions and critiques.

B)  Everyone tells you they want you to be honest, and that they themselves are honest,  but history teaches us that this is not the case.

C) I am not talking about that type of rude or cruel honesty here like when asked about your special person's footwear and you say "I think those shoes are ugly"  - I am talking about mining of the soul for real truth here, truth which can be offered in a pleasant way, or at least not an unpleasant way.

D)  I think I have finally found one person, well, one 'new' person other than the one or maybe two I have had for the last twenty-plus years, who is also honest,  AND IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN MY LIFE.   This is something I absolutely needed, required, and I somehow got it.  I will provide examples of this soon here when more time allows.

E) I do not understand what sort of a life one lives when one is not able to live true to the beliefs they know to be true, or can not say the true thoughts about their feelings or actions to the people they are supposed to care about.     How does that work?   Is it about fooling oneself?   Straddling either side of that line, how does one maintain respect for oneself or those people they are lying to?

F)  Is this a fair conclusion:  People do not want to receive or witness your example of real honesty because it will make them aware that they are not honest people themselves and become uncomfortable in that moment?

G)  The real purpose of this entry was to quickly record that I am actually happy right now (this observation about myself/ my dear peoples)  , and however long it took for me to get to this place, it has been worth it.
