Got word on Friday that the next container has made its way across the ocean, through the US Customs X-ray machine in NY, onto a rail car, then across the country, and one more time through US Customs here in Portland, and is now finally scheduled to be dropped off here in my shop yard on Monday.
In case you were not aware, this is E-X-C-I-T-I-N-G.
You know when you order something really cool, and maybe expensive online, like maybe a new laptop, or some cool shoes, something for YOU though, that you have wanted for a long time? You know how great the waiting is, and one day, finally, you hear the idling of that big brown van outside your house or window, and see it go into reverse and pull into your driveway? The guy with the brown shorts hops out and makes his way up to your door, which you are already on your way to answering?
Or, Maybe you get home to find that it has already happened in your absence and the box is there on your porch, or someone brought it inside for you?? You know how that is exciting?
Well, picture if the ENTIRE UPS VAN WAS FULL OF STUFF FOR YOU, but the UPS van was twice as big, at FORTY FEET LONG and it had cars in side of it??
Well, maybe I'm not telling it right, but it IS pretty exciting. Here are some pictures of the last drop-off :
